Development and the Environment

It is undeniable that the worsening environment has become the biggest concern of the present-day world. Land resources are dwindling because of water loss and soil erosion. Waste gases poison the air we breathe. The rivers and lakes are polluted by waste dumped in them from factories. It is probably no exaggeration to say that deterioration of the quality of the environment threatens the existence of mankind itself.

Some people are of the opinion that the environmental problem is the price we have to pay for economic development. But I do not think that this argument is valid. After all, what is the point of economic growth if people’s lives are adversely alfected by worsening environmental pollution?

There is plenty of evidence to show that sustainable development can be achieved by balancing economic growth with protection of the environment. The key to achieving this is to make people aware of the seriousness of the problem. Both governments and ordinary citizens should join hands to make this world a better place to live in, not only for ourselves, but also for future generations.

I'm Lisa, last week my parents and I went to Huangshan Mountian play.Wetake the train together, took about three hours to reach Huangshan Mountain.Thatnight, our hotel accommodations at a local, the next morning to gohiking.Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area is known around the world.The climberswill be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sea of clouds, rocks,etc..The tour was very fun, also took a lot of nice photos.

On a Saturday morning. I went to have breakfast. I felt there was a terrible smell and went over to have a look carefully. I found that there was a big pile of banana skins giving out the then a young fellow holding a dustpan rubbish to walk towards here . He raised his hands， The big pile of rubbish was here. At once I went to him and said “Uncle ， you can’t do like this . These things will rot very soon. It’s bad for our health and make the people fall ill.” However ，the man said “Everyone does so ，who falls ill，who will see the doctor.”

Looking at this ， I remembered another act : There is a stream through our village. Over it there are two bridges the age of seven years old ， I enjoyed the beautiful scenery under the bridge very much. It was the best place to swim in summer. But now the rubbish was getting more and more leaves，fruit skins，dead ducks and chickens…r rotting ，not only the mosquitos flew around but also the bad smell made everyone feel quite gh the stream was cleaned up several times， it’s still happening now. A lot of plastic bags always float on it summmer we have to go far away from the village to swim. ……此处隐藏3467个字……ss,butterflies are dancing in the air,they are so one day a strange creature appears, walking on its two hind legs and staring at you. greatly alarmed, you stop singing and fly away. since then, more creatures have appeared. they clear the land and cut down a result, you don't have enough food or of your friends have died of drinking the wastewater they pumped into the stream or of eating the litter they left on the forest is dead silent now except for the noises those creatures make.

sadly, you think by yourself, "maybe it is time for me to go."

i hate to see that the global environment has changed for the worse during the past few years: forests are cleared, prairies trampled, rivers and lakes polluted, wild animals are driven away and plants are should realize that we can no longer stand by and do nature is the cradle of human beings and it is also the base of the tourist nature is harmonious because of the chain of life that exists is possible for us to maintain a balance between the needs of man and the needs of the nature. but the nature is also y minor damage in one link may result in an ecological disaster.

we must do something to protect environment, we must put our words into our deeds. it can be as simple as do not litter, strictly observe the rules and regulations of the tourist areas, use as few plastic bags and boxes as traveling , wherever possible, use public transportation instead of always driving your own car. once you are in a scenic area, like in the mountains or in a forest, don't make loud noises, keep quiet so as not to disturb birds or more thing, go up and interfere whenever you see anyone doing something harmful to the environment.

My name is xx.It’s my great honous to speak here.I am the speaker of number 9. Today my topic is " Let’s take action to protect the environment . As we all know, The environment is getting worse and worse, In some places we can’t see fish swimming in the river or trees on the hills. Some people even have no clean water to drink. A number of people have been killed by air pollution and water pollution .Worst of all ,people aren’t aware of the danger of the pollution. So I think we should do something to protect the environment. .But what can we do? How to protect our environmemt?

In my opinion, we can go to school on foot or by bike. We can use shopping baskets instead of using the plastic bags when we go shopping. We can use both sides of the paper when we write . And remember don’t throw the rubbish everywhere. We can pick up the garbage when we see it. Remember to turn off the faucet. When we leave the room don’t forget to turn off the light.

If everyone takes action to protect our environment ,our shool and world will be much more beautiful in the future. DO You know? Today is world earth day.So Lets start to clean up now. Lets protect natures beauty.Lets make our future bright.Thank you for your attention.
